Always in the middle,
Afraid to break away,
Safety in the numbers,
Not such an easy prey.
Haven't an opinion,
Or keep it all inside,
Not the way I want it,
So quietly I've cried.
Hoping to be rescued,
By someone who will see,
The horror that is taking place,
In this family.
The babies still are safe,
Of that I feel quite sure,
Don't know if the older kids,
Ever had this to endure.
We four in the middle,
Live in such great dread,
Every night when lights go out,
And it's time to head to bed.
We hold on tight and pray,
That we will not be defiled,
And our bodies suffer agony,
That should never hurt a child.
