Heart And Soul
Poetry is the expressive selection of emotion, drawn from the torrent of life. Whether an expression of beauty or pain, darkness or light, it is many things in one. Poetry is art as deep as the musings of a composer, or one who stuns the canvas with his medium. It is art, breath, blood, and tears, the defining of what one feels in their heart and soul. For one who doesn't paint with a brush, it is the literal painting of thought. Poetry, for those who appreciate and understand it, can be very healing and cathartic for the clearing of the psyche. However, for some it is misunderstood, and unappreciated as the pointless babbling of some bored or disturbed individual. It is true to some extent that ones mental well-being could be in question, but the fact remains, if it weren't for the incidences of life, the sorrows, and the joys, who would care to write, and who would care to read it? Some of the most beautiful and passionate poems ever written have been penned by the most broken of heart, or the madly in love. And oh for the wonders of nature, a thing some never come to enjoy. Poetry is a peculiar language, contrived by the minds of those who think deeply, who take the time to ponder a rose, or the ripples on a pond. These are not matters to be taken lightly, and unimaginable to overlook. Compared to the towering buildings of stone, and iron which loom in the midst of the wild, how could one not find the inspiration. Even still, for others the city itself is inspiring, and again lends itself to the versatility of poetry. It goes far beyond subject, rhythm, or rhyme, it fact it doesn't have to rhyme at all. A well written piece will flow and feed the mind, play before you like a theatrical performance, or tickle your fancy. It is an intriguing garden of possibility, which deserves it's place in the realm of creativity. It is a gift to the world, a profound medium of communication, it is art.
