Poetry: Expressions of love

Expressions of love

My desk may seem cluttered, with its tokens from the past,
But I see beyond the disarray of pottery and glass.
I see five little children, their smiles still stuck in time;
Toiling with their tiny hands, each unique in their design.

That odd-looking paperweight was the first to find its home.
Even though beneath the paint and dust it's just another stone.
To me it holds a memory of a boy, who is now a man;
It's a treasure of great worth that only a mother would understand.

That block that holds my pencils is much more than it appears.
It's a remnant of bygone days and the things that I hold dear.
The coffee mug that leans a bit, I would truly miss;
Cause every time I take a sip, I swear I feel a kiss.

Don't ask which is my favorite, cause I'd say they were all the best.
And each one a reminder of how very much I'm blessed.
Upon my desk there are many things that I am so proud of;
But none are more precious than these expressions of love.
