Advantages of ownership over working in a business.
There are many advantages of ownership over working in a business. For self-starters, business ownership can be a good way to go. For one thing, it offers a perfect avenue for them to express their ideas and an environment in which they can put their business innovations into effect without being overruled by a boss. That's probably the most usual reason for someone opening a business. Here are some of the advantages of business ownership:
1. As a business owner, you're the boss. That's a huge advantage. As you have spent countless hours working for someone else, you have day-dreamed about being your own boss. As the boss, you get to make all the decisions and call the shots. You are able to set the business up according to your dreams and your design. That's an inviting reason to own a business, especially if you've always had a great idea but haven't been able to implement it due to working for someone else.
2. As a business owner, you can delegate duties when you want to. If you need extra time to work on a new project, you can delegate some of your more routine duties to others to save your time for the innovation. So many times when you work for someone else, you don't have the luxury of giving mundane work over to someone else in order to work on a new project
3. As a business owner, you can make revisions to the policy manual when policies cease to be effective. When working for a business, the policies and procedures established and enacted by that business are often set in stone long after they cease to be effective. Try as you might, you are not allowed to change those policies and procedures. With your own business, you are the boss. You have freedom to get rid of what doesn't work and add new policies and procedures when you see fit.
4. Establishing a schedule that works for you is another advantage to being a business owner. So often, working 8 to 5, day after day, gets to be a drag. As a business owner you don't have to adhere to this. You can get up in the middle of the night and work if you want. Usually business owners find that they are working more hours than they would when working for someone else, but they are definitely enjoying it more, because their entire heart and soul is in their business.
Of course, there are some disadvantages to being a business owner, but if you have the right personality and a great idea, the advantages usually outweigh the disadvantages.
