The Bible is nothing more nor less than a collection of the writings of men of mostly like mind concerning the dogma of Jesus Christ. As such it has been rewritten and reinterpreted so many times throughout it's long history that the original, if anyone could ever actually read it, would be, no doubt, unrecognizable. Whether or not the Bible will be rewritten again is not a question of if but when. It will most assuredly happen sooner or later. The safe bet is that it will happen much sooner than later.

The Internet and all the varied aspects of it that make such things as desk top publishing, instant commentary such as "blogging" and this site itself (Helium) as well as the unchecked and uncensored content of Wikipedia make this not only probable but an iron-clad guarantee. The Bible, as it now stands, is misquoted by those that count themselves true believers on a very regular and alarming basis. These individuals that misquote their own dogma guide book will many times, when called on the error, state that it's the intent that matters as opposed to the actual wording. This act of reinterpretation has gone on for many, many generations. These folks that practice this type of daily verbal rewrite have access to the Internet and so many sights that allow unrestricted posting that it is a certainty their Biblical misquotes and interpretations are bound to be published somewhere before very much longer.

Wikipedia, while a great place to browse for a good laugh, is so often wildly inaccurate that it seems it might easily pass for the real life equivalent to the fictional Hitchhiker'sGuide to the Galaxy. Almost every entry warns, as a matter of safety, that most or all of the facts in the entry require further verification as most are throughly wrong. Surely it is only a matter of time before the zealots of the Bible decide that in service of the Lord they must post their inner most beliefs for all to read. The point will, of course, be to save the souls of all those that read the musings of said zealots and they will support their varied points of view by misquoting or, at the very least, reinterpreting the Bible.

The end of the world is virtually upon us. That's the view of a great many Bible thumpers nowadays. They truly believe that we are living in the end-times and as a result of that belief they are certain to post their reason for such dogma all over the Internet the closer we come to either December 21, 2012 or whatever other time their misguided interpretations lead to them to except. These folks, if they have the strength of their convictions, will want the end of the worlds and humanity so that they might be lifted by some invisible hand up to Heaven just before the Antichrist arrives or the planet is simply destroyed. If they don't post their musings in order to warn others they will surely do so to save their souls or in order to make all that read their musings "know" them to be so very pious.

The unfortunate certainty is that we shall see the "Bible According to Y'all Folks" come to pass soon enough. The danger in it, of course, is that so many will believe anything they read and bother not with any further research or, for that matter soul searching or thinking. It is entirely possible that just having asked the essay question which has prompted this article to be written will be all that was needed to bring such a rewrite into being.
