"A Shoulder to Cry Upon"

I fear I needed a shoulder
To cry on when I was sad
To sob hot tears into
When I was upset or mad.

Your shoulder was inviting
So warm, so soft, ideal
But selfishly attached to your body
So I removed it, from you, with zeal.

Yes, you screamed, you thrashed about
But some things just have to happen
I needed your shoulder more than you did
So I got you when you were nappin'.

Don't worry; I kept it safe and fresh
By storing it in the freezer
I thawed it out for a good hard cry
You won't miss it that much, will yer?

I truly did need your shoulder
My feelings overcame common sense
But now I sit, shoulder-less
Looking out through a barbed wire fence.

You didn't have to call the cops
It was a flesh wound, nothing more
Now your shoulder is called "evidence"
And my cell mates are a chore.

You don't hate me, do you, really?
My feelings are valid too, Jack!
I just needed your shoulder, understand?
One day I would have brought it back!
