Are some prayers left unanswered? I believe all prayers are answered whether that answer be a 'yes' or a 'no'. God knows what we need even before we ask for it. What about the fruitless ramblings throughout the day, "God let me win the lottery" "God please let me go out with him/her." "God please let my favorite sports team win this game." How many times have we each uttered those words and then been disappointed if it didn't happen the way we thought it should? If we got answers that we wanted to every utterance, a hundred thousand people would win the lottery jackpot and everybody would get a few bucks, it would take a lifetime to meet your soul mate because you'd be tied up with someone else, and every sporting event would end in a tie. God takes care of us in his own time and not in the time frame that we think He should work by. If we ask Him for something that we need and genuinely have faith that He fulfills all our needs then I believe that He answers all our prayers. Some people would argue that if we ask God for something and the request is not fulfilled that He has not answered our prayers. The problem then is that we can't always see the larger picture. Just because the answer is not crystal clear and written across the sky doesn't mean that the answer is not there waiting for us. When we pray and ask God for something and we have faith that we will receive an answer and the request is not fulfilled, isn't 'no' an answer? We are God's children and just as our earthly father has the ability and right to answer our childish requests with a 'yes' or 'no' so then and more so does our Heavenly Father have that ability and right. Too many times I think we take for granted the fact that God said "no" to a particular request and don't even take the time to realize that it might be because He has something totally different in store for us. There is a saying that "God never closes a door without opening a window." I believe this is true in that instead of a promotion at your labor intensive job God may have a whole new path laid out in a different career where you'd make more money and have more time with family. Sometimes these opportunities may pass us by because we fail to see the GOOD in a 'NO' answer. In conclusion, In Hebrews the Bible tells us that Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. All we need is that mustard seed of faith in our hearts and God will take care of us. Our prayers are heard every day and, no matter how small or large the request might be, we will receive an answer. Just be willing to accept a 'yes' OR a 'no'.
