Suspended a few inches above the ground
that is how I feel when I am with you
breathing the same air as you
resting against your strength
your arms open so wide
I collapse into them
with my eyes closed
smiling and weeping
out of joy and sorrow
that a mortal life only gives me years
to know this ecstasy
this freedom at your feet
This love that binds us
the roots run deep
into the caverns of my heart
and you
lover
are the harpist
with your fingers caressing
pulling and striking
looking for the deeper meaning
hidden in the chords of my soul
The notes kindle and spark
inside the delicate chambers
of my callow heart
And it burns
but I dare not cry out
for the song would tear us asunder
and wake the angels from their beds
