The online resources for hard to find Asian food products offer a wide variety of things that one may or may not expect to find online. One would expect to be able to find all sorts of spices, sauces, dried items, teas, noodles, rice and even cooking supplies. The real suprise is that there are actually places that sell everything from fresh herbs to fresh spices, and even a selection of fresh produce that one wouldn't ordinarily expect to find on a website.

Here is a listing of a selection of some of the sites and what they carry.

IMPORT FOOD

Import Food is an on-line Thai grocery that is the one of the two on-line resources that sell fresh produce. It has everything from Thai tamarind, papaya, Thai eggplant to lemon grass, and it is about to carry imported Thai mangosteen. In addition to the fresh produce, it carries assorted canned foods, cooking sauces, noodles and rice, Thai curry and chili pastes, soup bases and a huge selection of spices and the basic essential cooking ingredients.

It is the only one of the Asian websites to receive the recommendation of Mark Bittman of the New York Times as well as a place in Saveur magazine's list of the top 8 Christmas gifts.

THAI GROCER

Thai Grocer is an Asian on-line grocer that also carries cookware. This is a site that is run by Import Food, and this is where all of the fresh produce can be found. In addition to the produce, they have other preserved ingredients and some fresh herbs.

TEMPLE OF THAI

Temple of Thai is another excellent resource that has a large supply of traditionally Asian ingredients. It also sells a variety of fresh ingredients including Kaffir lime, lemon grass, fresh tamarind, Thai basil, a Thai spice that is referred to as aromatic ginger, Thai chili peppers, papaya and more.

In addition to the fresh ingredients, they sell curry pastes, chili sauces, fish sauces and other Thai sauces. They also have Asian noodles and rice, canned coconut milk and vegetables, and preserved tamarind as well as a multitude of convenience foods.

CHOVIE VIET NAM

Chovievietnam.com is a website that doesn't just sell food. One of the advantages of this site is that the entire site can be seen in Vietnamese or in English. It sells a lot of typical stuff that one would expect to find at an Asian food site, including noodles, rice sticks, canned food, candy, fish sauces, soup bases, Pad Thai, canned garlic sauce and bamboo shoots. It's more unusual holding is indigenous Vietnamese pancake flour and pudding.
