Ancient cities
Shrouded in mystery it rises up from the earth,
Leaving man to determine the time of its' birth.
Its origin masked by nature and time
What secrets do lie within this shrine?
Who were these people? What did they know?
What happened to them? Where did they go?
Can we understand their joy and their pain?
Can we bring to life this ancient domain?
My eyes see the dust of years gone by,
While my mind seeks to understand why.
Ghosts surround me as I tread the path
Of an era now gone and days that have passed.
Will we ever come to truly understand
This ancient city and archaic man?
Or will their secrets remain hidden deep in the stone;
Their voices unheard, their mysteries unknown?
