Attention is not on every person's menu
Judged too quickly because of a difference
A fair shake so rarely given
Nasty thoughts fester inside of some
Not cognizant of their wealth of opportunity
The dance of the damned
Far too many participants
Seems as though the floor is always packed
Shyness takes up a permanent residence
Extroverts come here to die
Many people continue to go hungry
Starving for an iota of attention
Instead of assessing their needs
We sometimes deprive them this necessity
Not all have been duly blessed
The world is set up contradictory
Share in and of yourself readily
Do not ignore other's hunger pangs
Positive or negative
Attention seekers usually starve
Full of playful smiles
And a glee that exudes prominently
Comes off somehow as insincere
Damn the dance of the damned
Longing to be noticed
Forever to be wallflowers
It is high time to stop shoe gazing
And get out on the dance floor
Everyone has something to give
Even those dancing the dance of the damned
Look at me they seem to beckon
Shine a little bit of light my way
They deserve some credit
In spite of our truly fickle nature
The heart and mind rarely in harmony
Skills skewed but just a tad
Easily recognizable to some
Those dancing the dance of the damned
All attention is not the same
Some are starving
Others unfairly feasting
The dance of the damned
Awkward and unbalanced
Flailing limbs not corralled
Persecuting eyes shamelessly leer
Stabbing the backs of the damned
Eating away at their sub-conscious
Objectifying people without cause
Susceptible to the scornful eyes of others
Judging and dismissing in the same breath
Compassion and humility are lost virtues
Striving and go-getting at all costs
Blinded by our own insecurity
Forgive others often
Sleep with a clear conscience
Do not let other people wallow in misery
Let them help themselves to a portion of you
Conversation is a great meal
Glean from their sage wisdom
We do not have all the answers
Allow your curiosity to be piqued
Cloak yourself in dance floor
Swagger forth with pride and humility
Equality is a strange monkey
Displays itself far too rarely
Superiority is a feeling often misguided
Inferiority placed upon others without consent
The dance of the damned
Participants not by their own choice
Genetic quirks and abnormalities
Merely make one different-abled
Disabled a misnomer cited by the ignorant
Nobody has the right to point
Fingers of a disparaging nature
We are all but one in the same
Toss a few stones in your own direction
We all have insecurities and faults
Raise people up for a change
Instead of belittling them for a chuckle
Some merely cast in unflattering light
Be a part of the solution
Too many add to the problem
Free your mind to possibilities
Nobody deserves unfair recognition
Insecurity in others robs those ridiculed
The dance of the damned
Same songs are being played
We can all sway and sashay our own way
Nothing should stand in our path
Marching to the beat of our own drummers
Not hearing a different song with another person's ear
Reacting in manners all our own
The whole world is a dance floor
There seems to be less room, however
For those dancing the dance of the damned
In a world that is starving for attention
Share that which we dole out to others
Forgetting not once
Those who are suffering from attention theft
We can all be beacons of hope
Try not to let others go attention hungry
In the game of life
Some are starving for attention
We all deserve a little recognition

"This May Not Be Anthologized, But..."
I guess these silly rhymes of mine
Are the art of my invention
Do I write them for posterity?
Nah,

Mommy
I used to beg you for a hug
but you didn't have the time,
You'd shoo at me to go away
like it was such a crime.
So I would
They notice me now
They see how thin I am.
My hair brittle.
My nails splitting.
Now they know I am alive.
They didn't used
by Jon Coe
This pit in my stomach, will not subside
hankering for something, to feed this pride
A plate of you, or a big bowl of my invention
by Olivia Kay
People pass by as if I'm invisible,
Not a kind word, not even a glance in my direction,
Racing by, too busy to notice, too
