What once seemed as though it were entirely too implausible
Has now occurred, because you will find, that anything is possible
Never listen to those that cast their disparaging stones
Avoid the cynically negative people and their abundant clones
Dreams were placed gingerly onto the back burner
Fitting in to fail replaced a once avid learner
But those days passed by, and quickly faded
The only lingering thoughts were of memories jaded
University taught you about managing life
And dodging capitalism's ever-cutting knife
Lessons that were taken to heart were soon forgotten
Precious stolen moments of love soon turned rotten
As long as you carry yourself with the necessary attitude
Will leave you peaceful at night with a healthy dose of gratitude
Growing so quickly, you have turned into a rock
Realizing that life is on a timer, and you're about to leave the dock
Unimpressed with your resume, life tossed you a sneer
Disdainfully unrepentant, you flippantly faked a tear
Lofty aspirations, which were suddenly squelched
Reminiscing of days when the alphabet was drunkenly belched
Somehow you survived and got back on the straight and narrow
Just before life turned on you, leaving behind a stagnant barrow
Starting off at a new job, feeling summarily fulfilled
Even though your unadulterated spirit has been quietly killed
You settle down nicely, and reluctantly accept your new job
Of your self-dignity, a small portion they did rob
Succumbing to their bottom line you accept their pittance
Idly toiling and avoiding severance and good riddance
It doesn't matter what life brings, as you gracefully grow older
For you have come full circle, you are now a sturdy boulder
Keep within your body and soul a coupon to redeem
And make certain that you stay true to your lifelong dream
