Tossing and turning, two souls living and learning.
My breath carries your name in bittersweet yearning.
Your love swiftly returns to me wherever I may hide,
Reminding my heart of star-crossed notions buried inside.
Lost love like slow death; lies sweetly burning,
Burning the bridges we took decades to build.
We've come to a crossroads; our duplicity filled
With passion and joy, but more sadness and woe.
Nothing left without courage; we both must let go.
How did we arrive in this aimless, wrecked place?
If only I could turn to you and see your sweet face.
Your words tell me you love me but your actions betray
Your honest intentions and here I am still at bay.
Not meant to be in this lifetime you and me,
So we set sail for territory unknown, leave behind destiny.
So tragic, such a shame, our love not of this earth,
But saved for the heavens for whatever that's worth.

Poetry: Lost love
by Olu Burrell
I think about you when I'm looking ahead
And also in moments of reminiscence
But do me a favor and don't ask me
To tell you
The man in the jacket, walking through snow,
His faithful friend, always in tow,
Forever smiling, happy look on his face,
Whatever
So there we were
Looking up at the sky,
Together.
Truly thought
That you and I
Could storm
Any kind of weather.
I still
Do not wait for me with bated breath,
because my heart dances to and fro.
Its chambers are hollowed and empty
it longs for
As a bird perched on the edge of its nest
eyes searching the unknown world outside
strengthening its wings, yearning to fly
