How to be realistic about your job search

offer.

Most inexperienced job hunters start by being very picky, only applying for their "dream jobs" and only slowly learn that they must broaden their search if they would like to call themselves employed. My advice is to save some time and start with a broad search right away. Another benefit of this method is that attending multiple interviews gives you plenty of practice at learning how to showcase your skills and sell yourself well. Even if you don't ace the first few interviews, by the time you find the right job, you will be more a more relaxed interviewee and better at marketing yourself.

Finally, take advantage of the wealth of information available on the Internet when it comes to creating an effective resume and improving your interviewing skills. Realize that you may have to temporarily settle for something that doesn't meet all of your "dream job" qualifications, but remember that you can always be keeping your eye out for something else. Unless you're the heir to a throne or a trust fund baby, what is more important is that you're on someone's payroll. Most importantly, don't give up! It is possible to find a job that you love that pays all the bills, but you are going to have to work hard and practice some patience.
