yea
it hurts
but i muddle on thru anyhow
if life ain't been a crystal stair for some folks
imagine climbing the tore up boards with
lead feet
joined by a dead body
wanting simply to admit defeat
give up and say screw it
you knew when you blew it; or someone blew you
painful though it may be
quitting was not an option for me
nor a failure in the making;
what's most unfair is not having...
the unction to just throw in the towel
as bad as it hurts
stopping now is null
at the end of a long dark day
if my future is still vast
Then my muddling on thru today
cain't be dictated by my past.

The call that took my world away
and shattered
