I remember, how could I forget? He was standing in the door of a laundrymat, in a truck stop. A statuesque man. with the most beautiful blue eyes, I had ever seen. My heart actually stopped beating, for what seemed like an eternity.
I was driving cross country with a female co-driver. We had stopped at a RipGriffin truck stop on Highway 20, on our way to California. We had decided. today was going to be laundry day and a day of pampering ourself. RipGriffin truck stops, are known for their extras, such as whirlpool baths, and wonderful showers. I know it seems a little crazy. that someone could actually get that excited over a hot bath, and being able to do their laundry. The fact is, life on the road can get tough, and a luxurious bath is not something that comes along everyday.
I had just put a load of laundry into the washer and happened to look up, as this handsome man walked through the door. Our eyes met and what can I say? Sparks flew, and the fireworks display started. We exchanged polite smiles and a nod of our head. I noticed that he was helping. a small framed woman to a chair, and was so gentle with her. He showed so much love and compassion for the woman he was with.

I had noticed that she didn't become involved, in the conversation and sat their with a blank expression on her face. I also noticed, that she had her arm in a cast. I asked him what had happened and he went into detail explaining, that his wife had grand mall seisures and that she had the mentality of a 6 year old. He had opted to take her, on the truck with him, instead of putting her in a nursing home. He told me his name was Michael.
I later volunteered to watch her so he could go take a shower. My heart went out to this man with the beautiful blue eyes. Michael later returned and we said our good-byes. Lennie, my co-driver and I had decided to grab a steak and all the extras before we left. We were eating the last of our meal, and I had decided I didn't want my piece of pumpkin pie. So I pushed it to the middle of the table. I heard someone from behind me say: "Excuse me, if your not going to eat that piece of pumpkin pie, I would be happy to eat it for you." I smiled and handed Michael the piece of pie, and I got up, to go check out.
Lennie and I took a little time to browse the gift shop, as I usually picked up something for my mother and son, at each truck stop. I was standing,
