Millions of animals
travel a lie,
Off to new pastures
But most are to die
They travel in ways
too horrific to bear,
We take it for granted
That they are in good care.
Thirsty, unhappy,
and disease ridden too,
Stuck in a box,
No room with a view.
Destined for slaughter,
Who cares for their pain?
Left filthy, and frightened
Again, and again.
The price for your burger,
And steak with a date,
Can come from great suffering,
From being trapped in a crate.
So when you see cases
stamped "handle with care",
Just spare a small thought,
And offer a prayer.
Transporting our animals
Over long stretches mean,
Great misery and loss,
It is so gross and obscene.
Please stop this vile practice
And learn to play fair,
And remember all animals
Need to be "handled with care"
