A day's retreat to the beach
Renews, revives, and preaches.
You, God, hug me with the ocean breeze,
Gently embrace my heart - my soul seize.
You refresh me with the spray of waves, and
Sprite-like, I sprint over the foam washed sand.
Your palm fronds and sea grasses nod their agreement -
At the beach, daily gratitude gains credence.
Gulls punctuate the sky with their strident voices,
Proclaim your sovereignty amid worldly noises.
Bright sun rays warmly caress and enfold,
While joyful, scenic pleasures I behold.
Shovels dig, sand castles fall while dolphins rise.
Youth skims, sails fill, and children laugh as Frisbees fly.
A day spent at the beach
