Poetry: A gentle touch

by Jane Allyson

Created on: April 03, 2009   Last Updated: April 18, 2009

My heart was shattered; and lay broken,
Like a thousand razor blades.
And I felt your presence near me,
A silken moment fades.

Uncaring what the future holds,
I weep and scream with grief
I cast my mind back, reaching out,
To gain a scant relief.

I ache with longing, deep and sad,
Deny what I have seen,
I tell myself, incredulous,
It must have been a dream.

Your translucent face, fragile in death,
A body far from me.
I cannot go where you have fled,
Or have, what you now see.

My soul is ripped in agony,
I cannot bear to know,
The truth of what has happened here,
It is a wicked blow.

I will not accept this hollow day,
Please, tell me I am wrong
I cannot live without your love,
It was my only song.

I hold my arms wide out darling,
And shout "I love you this MUCH!"
And finally, with a song in my heart,
I felt your gentle touch.
