She looks at me over her book
Under her hat
Beneath the corner of the umbrella
Surrounded by sun.
She looks at me and smiles,
Slips on her sunglasses
Pulls off her hat
As her hair comes undone.
She looks at me as she stands
Lets her book drop on the sand
As she starts to walk to the sea
She turns and looks at me.
Over her shoulder she laughs
As she splashes into the waves
Spreads her arms as her face turns skyward
And my breath is swept away.
A seagull laughs
The surf sounds crash
Children giggle and scream
Our day at the beach,
Like a dream, like a dream.

I want to spend a day at the beach,
building tall castles in the white sand.
I want to gather colorful seashells,
hold them
