Away Love
In long days since I've been from you
I've longed for shared hearts to renew,
I've missed you in this time apart.
You haunt my mind, tear at my heart.
Your picture stands beside my bed,
Your sweet smile lingers in my head,
I cannot say I'll see the time
I'll kiss your lips and feel you're mine.
Now that we're parted it's so strange
To bear this passage through our change,
Since we have torn ourselves away,
To live without you, day to day.
'Till comes the day when we decide
To part, I'll hold and keep inside
The anguished tears I'll surely cry
If we, forever, say goodbye.
For all we've meant, and hoped to be,
So far adrift on life's cruel sea,
From one another and our dreams,
Our love, so tragic, not redeemed.

Barbed Wire
Metallic rose and thorns of stainless steel,
With razor edges custom made to pierce.
The foolish heart pursues
How sweet it was as your main attraction.
But now I am an unwanted distraction.
No longer is your love still true.
Oh, but
