not want to feel deprived!
Do not be afraid of snacking! Just make healthier choices, like 10 almonds and an apple. If you are still hungry try drinking water to help fill you up.
Along with the baby steps in changing how you fuel your body, you should also gradually add in more activity. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator, or park your car farther away from your office or the mall and walk. All those little things add up.
Try to do something active every day and again take it slow! That does not mean you have to go to the gym or run 5 miles. After dinner instead of sitting in front of the television try putting on your walking shoes and hitting the pavement, one step at a time. Maybe it is one block at first, then two, and before you know it you are walking a mile. When walking starts to become easy, kick it up a notch by walking 4 minutes and running for 1 minute, and then start adding more running time and less walking time as your fitness level improves.
If you are working out at the gym try learning a new piece of equipment every week, or taking a new aerobics class. Again the key here is to work this in gradually, maybe going to the gym three times a week, then adding more days.
Remember there are so many ways to get exercise in, including the gym, walking and running, but do not forget about things like cycling, tennis, yoga or how about ice skating. Change it up, try new things!
Above all, make sure what ever form of exercise you do make sure it is fun, if you do not enjoy it, it will not last. And remember it should never be painful!
As you progress with your healthier diet and exercise program pat yourself on the back, and give yourself a reward, try things like a new shirt or a day at the spa.
You might find this journey easier by having some professionals on board, perhaps a trainer, or nutritionist, and remember always check with your doctor before starting an exercise program. You can also buddy up with a friend or ask your family for help and support.
Learn to forgive yourself, if you mess up, remember tomorrow is a new day. Do not dwell on what you think might be a failure. We are all human and imperfect, just vow to do better tomorrow and actually do it!
