To be a perfect wife, you must first become a perfect person, which of course is not humanly possible. But, while there may be no perfect wives in this world, there are wives who are perfect for their equally imperfect husbands. If you can achieve that, you will indeed achieve the illustrious perfection we all wish for, at least in the eyes of one man. Fortunately, that one man will be the one that you most love and cherish, whose opinion is the most important to you.
Your starting point must be getting to know him. Not just the him that you see today, but the him that was before all of life's hurts and disappointments formed the calloused edges that you see now. Who was your man before he was a man? What was the child like? What were his ambitions, his dreams? Where did his passions lie? Most of us start out innocently with no boundaries to our goals, and then, life happens and lets us know that we aren't as in control as we thought. It may make us grasp onto different characteristics that we use to protect ourselves from hurt. If you can get to know who your husband was as a youngster, you can help to bring back that person. You may be just the healing balm he needs.
Husbands are often the ones who are working outside the home, forty or more hours a week, to provide the majority of the family income. Wives, do all that you can to make his job easier and his time away from it more rewarding. The art of womanhood has been lost in too many ways over the years, but you can display it if you choose. Have dinner ready in the evenings, let him enter a clean and welcoming home, "pretty up" a bit. In essence, make his arrival a special time. If you are lucky enough to be a homemaker, do your job to the best of your ability.
Take excellent care of your children. A man appreciates a woman who raises their children to be the pride of his or her parents. Teach your little ones good manners, keep track of their needs and appointments, help them dress and clean up to look presentable. Children play and get messy, but there is a huge difference between that and filthiness. Your kids need you, so be the mommy they need.
Treat his parents with respect. If he has parents that are elderly, help to take care of them and make sure that they have what they need. Does his mom need to go to the salon? Take her there with you. Does his dad need his medication picked up? Make the effort to get it for him and deliver it. Your husband will love seeing this side of you and will appreciate it more than you know.
Doing things like these will elevate you to a status of perfection in your husband's eyes. He needs a helper, a lover, a best friend, and you can be all of those. Being a wife is more than getting a pretty ring and a big wedding, it is doing for the one that you love and care for. It is considering them above yourself. It is giving and helping. If you do these things, the rewards will be wonderful. Your husband will hold you in high esteem. Your children will see a grand example and you will get to bask in the loving glow he has for you.
