Your hopes for the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie

Yes, I am one of those geeks that read the Harry Potter books. Okay, we're not all geeks, and I honestly do not consider myself one, but I love to read and the Harry Potter series is one of the many under my belt. Filled with magic, courage, adventure, and the awkward teen years, the books were amazing to read. I could see all of the images J.K. Rowling was trying to show flash through my mind with each sentence I read. Wow. It takes real talent to write books like that.

I wish I could be so appraising of the films. The Harry Potter saga has had quite the run from best selling books to box office hits. However, the movies are never up to par with the books, just like with other book to movie attempts. While the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone started off the movies well, it was never the same. The second movie also did an okay job. In my honest opinion, I believe the third was one of the best movies made based on the book. It was longer than the first two and kept many of the details from the book; or at least what I can remember due to the fact that I read the first three books about six years ago, shortly after they first came out.

The fourth movie started the ball rolling downhill. In my opinion, the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, was the best book, other than the last one. However, the movie did not do it justice. So many details that I remembered in the book were cut out of the movie. This was quite the disappointment. And then the fifth movie was released. This is the worst movie in my opinion. Not much happens in the movie. It seems very dull and as if they just threw together the main points to finish the movie.

With the sixth movie release quickly coming, I have somewhat high expectations. Following such a bad fifth film, the sixth (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince) needs to make a comeback. The story needs to be told just like it is in the movie; and not cut out details that the viewer/reader may want to see. I believe that in order to revive these films, this movie needs to make a killing my getting it right. Following the actual storyline is what will do this. So many people loved the book series and ate it up. Why mess with a good thing? Overall, I know I want to be lost in the world of Harry Potter. I want to see in the movie what I saw when I was reading. I want to feel the magic on the screen enter my home every time. I pop that movie into my DVD player. I want good effects with great acting. I want the real Harry Potter back.
