I strongly believe that the only humans that may be contributing to the fraction of a degree of temperature change over the past 40 years are the wind-bag politicians and environmentalists. Together they have more wind then all the bag-pipes in Scotland, Ireland and anywhere else they play these beautiful instruments. I would much rather listen to Amazing Grace by a pipe band than suffer through another self-glorifying speech that the world as we know it will end if we don't buy a carbon replacement coupon!

I am sure these idiots are trying to figure out how to charge Sarah Palin for the eruption of Mount Redoubt in Alaska. How on earth does one charge a volcano, a natural occurrence that has shaped much of the planet, a penalty for excess carbon emissions? What about Kilauea in Hawaii and all the active lava-makers in the growing country of New Zealand. I wonder if it has ever occurred to anyone that the melting of the per-ma-frost in Alaska may be due to an under-ground heat source, such as lava moving towards the surface.

I really do not understand what is in it for politicians like President Obama. With the exception that it is one more way for government to take away personal freedoms in America by say banning incandescent light bulbs and ordering us to only drive energy efficient cars. For a person who extols the use of modern technology like putting our medical records online and having White House chats over the Internet, he is silent about what to do with these modern toys once they have expired. Many of the devices he is so enamored with contain pollutants like mercury and lead and one cannot readily recycle these things. In the past America has simply sent these environmental hazards to third world countries so they could extract the valuable metals etc. and perhaps buy a meal or two for the family. There has been no new plan from our president. Just more mandates on American citizens on how to live.

How environmentally friendly is the White House? It does not generate it's own power either by solar panels or windmills. It sure does not use those energy efficient light bulbs throughout the mansion or even in the family living quarters. Presidents and dignitaries always leave via helicopter where they board a private jet which is hardly environmentally friendly with all that jet-fuel emissions. And are the limos that transport the Obama children to school etc electric or hybrid. No, because they don't make big cars that way. Meanwhile we are chastised for not wanting to cram ourselves into the tiny fuel-efficient cars and using light bulbs that don't make us all look like we have advanced liver disease. So yes, I believe it is political hyperbole, pure and simple.
