No!
A mother challenges her children to grow,
bidding them bravely, chin up off you go.
She awaits the holiday's happy hellos,
greeting grandkids with their faces aglow.
It's a happy occasion of food and fun,
feeding the faces and downing deserts.
Day done with a wave they are finally gone.
Good gracious Mom's glad it's all done.
Thank God, she offers a prayer in relief
slouches on the sofa with a sigh of pure peace.
Then the day dawns when the knock on the door
comes with a mob moving in to her space.
She welcomes them warmly, can't turn them away,
when a variety of vagabonds appear on the porch.
The mother in shock stands back on demand
as luggage, lapdogs and children load in.
Aghast, mouth agape she knows not what to do
for she is the old woman who lived in the shoe.
Like hippies of the sixties they're a love fest of freaks
creating an instant crash of chaos..
Hey lady one says, can you do me a fave
take little Davey and give him a bathe.
She asks which one's Davey as a baby
is plopped in her arms. Though appalled
and offended she can't seem to say no.
When a whine from another whoever chimes in
please put on a pot and cook up a lot. Enough
was enough; her throat tingled down low.
Astonished she feels her vocals vibrate
as a sound struggles up to her mouth.
As she felt her mouth open a word welled to the top,
then the unexpected explosion resounded
Heck No!
