Poetry: Late night thoughts

Dead of Night

Just simply walking along the loch side
in the dead of night
thinking the dark black sky
gives the illusion of the heavens carpets
with holes in it
allowing the light of the stars shine through

Visions of the lone wolf
on the shadow rock
with his head thrust ed back
howling at the full moon
the sudden hoot of an owl
all adds to the eeriness of the darkness

When most of us are tucked up fast asleep
natures most awesome sites are taking place
just the lucky few happens across
the magic of the dark time in all its glory
where as humans we are somewhat conditioned
to be afraid of the dark

We all must remember when we were young
our parents would say, " eat your carrots up
they will make you see in the dark"
I questioned my father about this once and his answer was
" well you never see a rabbit wearing glasses"
amazing what pops into ones head
when walking along the loch side
in the dead of night
