When I look back on my childhood I always look back with happiness. I remember my older brother and sister and me were always out playing somewhere. From a very early age I would go to the local park with my sister and brother. We would meet up with friends and play on the park swings and slides for hours. There was a see saw that I truly loved and my brother would sit on it with me. I used to pretend I was flying to the moon. Those days were magical.
I can't remember a time in my childhood that I was unhappy. In the summer time we used to go on holidays to wales. The whole two weeks holiday was filled with fun. My dad would make things in the sand for us to play in. Like boats and forts. We played for hours seeing who could make the biggest sand castle. My mom would bake the most fantastic cakes, and buns. She would make up sandwiches and we would all have a picnic on the beach.
If the weather was bad we all used to go to the amusement arcade and play the games there. The two weeks would pass by very quickly, and all too soon it would be time to go home. After getting home we couldn't wait to go and meet up with our friends and tell them all about our holiday.
I remember getting my first pair of roller skates. My brother and sister were already experts on theirs. They had fun helping me get the hang of mine. After I mastered the art of staying upright, we would have great games on our skates. We played a game of chase, and raced with each other.
We all never wanted to end our play time at the end of the evening. We would have stayed playing for ever. Some Sundays we would go to the park, and dad would take out a rowing boat on the lake. These Sundays were great we loved them.
When I was a child I was never lonely or bored. There was always something to do, and lots of friends to play with. There used to be a whole gang of us who lived in the same area. We all played together. We used to get teams together and play rounders and cricket. The days were always full of fun.
I do miss my childhood in some ways. I think it's only because I miss being young. I don't miss the childhood games because I play them with my own children. I encouraged my children to play the games of my childhood because they gave me so much joy. I laugh with my children all the time. Especially when they all got their first pair of skates. It bought back the memories to me of my own first pair and the fun I had learning to skate, or even keep upright on them.
Childhood is a very special time in our lives. It only happens once. We all look back and miss it at some stage in our lives. Just remember if you have children you will always have your childhood memories to pass on. This way you don't have to miss them. Just relive them over and over again in your children and your grandchildren.
