Poetry: A day at the beach

by Wendy Lafond

A Day at the Beach

The screams of gulls circling off-shore

The warm, wet sand between my toes

This is the life of which I dreamed

When in winter's chill I shivered

Children running to and fro

Boaters shouting as they leave

What a day to catch a wave

Or a picnic in the sun

The beach has so much to offer

Its almost like its magical

The way it heals our inner self

Using sun and sand and water

So spend a day at the beach

I'm sure that you will agree

That beaches have the power

To heal you in just one day
