Why Candy Land is the perfect board game for a young child

Candy Land is the perfect board game for a young child. Its colored board, traditional primary colored gingerbread men have become a classic family tradition. As a young person growing up with Candy Land I had love to play this game because of the colored squares and winding path. I especially loved it when I landed on the ice cream cone; since it was my all time favorite childhood food!

Candy Land is a basic game with not too much strategy involved. It is an excellent learning tool for any preschooler or kindergartner. A preschooler if playing with an adult or an older sibling can learn how to count through instruction by another on their turn. Young child can learn the names of colors and how to take turns. The colors are so bright I feel that it lifts the spirits of anyone young or old. In addition Candy Land can serve as a foundational tool for building one's character such as honesty, learning not cheating, and being patient on a stuck dot.

The Candy Land game is functional. It does not cost money to run, except for purchasing the game itself. All that is needed to play the game is a small space to play it in. A table, or even on the dining room or living room floor are sufficient enough places. The game is portable and a wonderful past time if on vacation, such as a camping trip. You can even play it on the picnic table! If a family is staying at a hotel you can play at the table or another designated area. The little cards with the colors and pictures on them are small enough for little hands to pick up and put down easily in a discard pile.

Throughout the years the game has been my first choice for my family, because of the joy I felt when I played with my mom or friends when I was little. I hope that my children when they grow up will make this an all time classic and tradition in their home.

There is more than just the traditional Candy Land game to choose from now. I have personally purchased for my youngest the Dora Explorer version. We have different types of pawn pieces including Dora, and Diego! I believe Candy Land is also the perfect board game for a child because of the joy they feel and happiness while spending time with a loved one, and bonding with a parent, a grandma, a brother or a sister etc.. The earliest, most enjoyable days of youth were formed during Candy Land and they stay with any young child including me throught out their lives.
