The rock world is a vast world full of many bands, veteran and beginning. It contains a wide spectrum of sub-genres, the rock world is a hard thing to define with just one band, which I think the best would be. A definitive rock band that has the best of every part of that spectrum. It seems to me that the best way to go about starting this is to pinpoint the multiple bands of the rock genre that are seen as the best and most notable.
In the 50s, we had such artists as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, and Buddy Holy... The artists that were the forefathers to the entire genre itself, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presly are commonly given the title of the king of Rock and Roll.
Going to the 60s, we have when Rock first started branching out a little bit and gaining some momentum. We have The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Jethro Tull and Jimi Hendrix.
The 70s expanded even farther on this with: Alice Cooper, The Ramones, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Journey, Boston, Rush, Queen, Kiss, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden. All these bands starting in this period.
Now we have the infamous 1980s, were rock really diversified. Artists like, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Metallica, Guns 'N Roses, Slayer, Poison, Quiet Riot, Twisted Sister, Billy Idol, The Pixies, The Cure, countless others.
Then the 1990s: with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Oasis, No Doubt, Green Day, The Offspring, Rage Against the Machine, Korn.
Now our current decade, with bands I guess most of you who would be reading this article be familiar with.
As you can see, there is a large number of bands of this genre who have achieved recognition for their music. I do not think that among them you can pick just one of them who can represent all of them well. There is one band that deserves honor for being the band that had the most impact and changed the rock world, and even the rest of it, the most. This band is The Beatles. They are a band that definitely deserves every ounce of popularity they have. It is no question that they deserve special mention among all of these groups. I would not say that any of the bands here have not made an impact in there own right. I named all of these bands as representations of the Rock and Roll spectrum. It is a spectrum that everybody should recognize for what it is, a group of bands who have changed the world.
