Emptiness
She opened her eyes to see nothing but intensely bright light. She realized that she was still in her bath and the water had gone cold though she could still smell the lavender bath oil she had put in the water. She crossed her arms over her chest; shivering. Blinked rapidly but it did nothing to clear her vision. She stretched out her arms, hoping to feel something.
There was nothing.
She started to whimper and cry a little; scared. She tried to stand up, slipped, and fell back into the water. Back in the cold water. Her shivering became even more intense. She didn't know what do to. She lay there, covering herself, shivering, looking around in a panic hoping to see something; anything. She knew she had to get out of the water.
She sat up and, using the edge of the tub, she was able to stand up. She was careful making her way out; still not seeing anything. She felt the bath mat, cool, under her foot. She fell. Something tripped her. She couldn't see anything; didn't know what it could have been. She lay there, shivering and whimpering. She groped around her, hoping to feel something.
The bath mat.
She sat up, held the edge of the tub, and stood up again. She made her way, dragging her feet, arms out in front of her, over to the chair in the corner of the room. Before she knew where she was, her leg hit the edge of the chair. She bend down and felt for her robe. She gripped it close to her, hugging it like a stuffed animal. Whimpering, she slipped it over her cold skin, the softness of the fabric was welcoming. She was still shivering though, tears streaming down her cold cheeks.
She stood in the middle of the room, blinking, trying to clear her vision, trying to figure out what happened. What does she do now? She wiped her cheeks of her tears. She used the walls as a guide and made her way to the door way. She shuffled her feet as she went but still ran into something, making her fall to the floor.
On the ground she reached out with her hands, hoping to find the object that tripped her. A chair. She wondered what is a chair doing there? She pushed it out of her way but it snagged in the shag carpet. She remembered when she had this carpet installed and how she loved it.
Now it was just causing problems.
She managed to get the chair loose and moved it out of the way. She grabbed the door frame and stood up again. She had hurt her knee when she fell. She couldn't put weight on her knee, it hurt so much. She lowered herself back to the floor and crawled
