How to pick the best HDTV

may be trying to get rid of them because of age or poor quality and you may have spent money only to get a poor entertainment experience. Make sure the TV you get is modern enough to be upgrade compatible with newer components. If you don't have a Blu-Ray player yet you'll probably get one soon and your TV needs to be able to connect to your player or a digital receiver. Don't bother with TV+ built-in DVD combo sets. It's best to get seperate components as these bundled machines things ususally don't work well, are of poor quality and aren't upgradable.

Last of all, once you've decided on an HDTV and get it home you'll want to calibrate it. Calibrating your HDTV will help you set up the correct color levels and contrast ration for your use. Usually TVs are calibrated to near insane levels when they are in the stores so you will need to recalibrate it. You could buy a special calibration disk but if you own a Star Wars DVD, or any other movie that is THX certified, you already have the tools to calibrate your TV. Star Wars DVDs are THX certified discs and come with a calibration program. You can purchase a pair of blue filter glasses from the THX site for a very cheap price, hook up your TV and DVD player, put in your THX certified DVD, bring up the program (usually it's found on the Special Features disc) and follow directions. It's that simple. You could hire a professional to calibrate it for you but unless you are extremely particular, this isn't necessary. You can calibrate it yourself with the calibration tool on the DVD.

By taking all of these things into considerarion before you make your purchase, when you are actually ready to buy and HDTV you won't feel unprepared or confused. You'll have a list of things you'll want need based on your needs and you can buy the HDTV that fits you.
