Poetry: True love

by Jennifer Bland

Created on: April 01, 2009

You are the soles of my two feet

that now decide to step in time.

You are the thoughts inside my mind

that strive for synchronized design.

You are muscles in my throat

to help me swallow pride and fears.

You are the H2O and saline,

to drown my eyes in tears.

You are my voice that sleeps behind my teeth

or sings the songs within.

You are my hands that do not idle

Lest, I graze your skin with sin.

You are my tongue to spit expressions free,

Or linger with your taste.

You are my eardrums to receive the sounds

to fill our empty space.

You are the cheeks I rest on pillow tops

and in the safest hands.

You are inside the legs I use to run

but choose, with strength to stand. You are oxygen, I breathe you in-

I hold you in my chest.

You are blood that flows from pounding heart

to motivate the rest.

There is so much you within each cell

that makes up my machine.

Yet still more of you in abstract thought

to fill my head with dream.
