I'am stopping for a moment
because I need to say
"Thank you Lord for all the things
that are part of my life each day."
The sun that slips in softly
to wake me from my sleep
encouraging me to start my day
leaving blankets in a heap.
Thank you Lord for my children
who take me by the hand
and lead my through an open door
to play out in the sand.
There we sit together
just my babies and me~
they point out things that are so important~
the things we fail to see...
Puffy white clouds that sail across
a background of baby blue...
towering trees that stretch their branches
as if trying to reach for you.
A breeze that comes out of no~where
and messes up our hair
sends the kids into gails of laughter
that fill the morning air.
Leaves that seem to come alive
and jump and spin and swirl
brings a little bit of magic
into their tiny world.
We talk about where "birdies" live
and why ant holes are so small
and why turkeys heads move "kind of funny...
Baby Jesus made them all!"
Thank you Lord for my heart that beats
it feels love and joy and pride...
thank you for my spirit too
for it enables me to fly.
For my arms dear Lord I thank you too.
It's where my babies come to rest.
Thank you for my fingers that
point out a robins nest.
Legs and feet that bear my weight
and give me ability to roam
through a world that's filled with big bright stars
that twinkle above our home.
Ears that hear the children sing~
Eyes that watch them grow~
Hair that stands right up on end
as Autumn breezes blow.
My heart is filled with graditude
for suddenly I can see
the blessings Lord you have given
to my family and to me.
Help me Lord to always remember
what I have learned today~
that trials can be, no matter the size,
quickly taken away.
Seeing with a childs eyes
is like magic yes indeed~
It's when thunder turns into a marching band
and a hay field turns into the sea.
