This is a true story about me and how I let someone very special slip through my figures. I pushed and pushed at this man until one day he couldn't take anymore.
I pushed him so hard because I was scared I would get hurt. I thought he was too good to be true and that he wouldn't like the real me, not underneath all the self doubt, the make up and nice hair do. I was wrong, so very wrong
It all started in September 2007; Sylvia met a man called Jack at her new job at a local electrical store in town. Jack was training Sylvia on the computer section, and found him to be sweet and pleasant but noticed how little eye contact he was giving her.
Sylvia later learnt that Jack had a fiance, and realised that this must have been the reason why there was a lack of eye contact on her first day.
In December 2007, Jack discovered that his fiance had been cheating on him, they soon split up and Sylvia was there for him, they become friends and Sylvia felt very loving and protective of Jack. It was the talk around work about how their new friendship had blossomed, as everyone noticed the body langue between the pair.
Although Sylvia felt very protective of Jack, she was very unsure of her feelings; he was very caring and treated her with a lot of respect, which was something she wasn't used to. She found jack to be very shy and sometimes wouldn't talk about his feelings openly, for this they struggled and it made Sylvia very uncertain if she could trust Jack or not. Would he be like all the other guys that had broken her heart?
In May 2008, Sylvia at this point was having the time of her life; she had just turned 21, where Jack was the first and last one at her Birthday party, where she was off trying to get a phone number of another man. Sylvia wasn't trying to make Jack jealous but she could feel him watching her.
If Jack knew half the things Sylvia was up to; the men she dating, the drunken weekends out, the flirting and need for attention, Sylvia thought in her heart that Jack wouldn't want to know her anymore, that she wouldn't be enough or no good for him, so her contact with him become less until July 2008.
In July 2008, Sylvia, Jack and a couple of friends decided to share a car ride to a colleges Birthday party. As soon as Sylvia saw Jack, she realised how much she missed him. He looked gorgeous all dressed up, and her heart felt like it had skipped a beat. He was wearing a while shirt, black trousers, a waistcoat and a tie. It's not something you'd see Jack normally wear.
