Working from home is something that allows for an amazing feeling of freedom and a reduction of stress in your life under most circumstances. What happens when you're a work at home mom? You have two full time jobs, caring for your child and completing whatever task you perform for your job. There are times when work at home moms can feel overwhelmed but there are some things that can be done to reduce the feels of being overwhelmed and the confusion you feel from time to time.
Make a schedule
Making a schedule is the first thing you must do as a work at home mom. You're kids could be home with you or in school during the day but either way you need to have a designated time to work during the day to ensure you get something done. You can start your day before anyone wakes up or when they leave for school but you must have a rough schedule to show when you will be working.
The importance of a schedule becomes even clearer when you have children with doctors appointments. The appointments that children have don't always go as planned so intending to have a day off for these is sometimes the best bet. When you have children home during the day you have to get an idea of the hours you'll be able to work as you take care of your family.
Housework
Whether you're a work at home mom or a work outside the home mom there is going to be housework to do. The urge to clean up that mess in the kitchen before you begin work can be overwhelming. Giving everyone in the home a job to do will reduce the amount of housework that you have to do while ensuring everything gets done.
You have to learn to stop doing housework and get to work at some point. When you constantly interrupt your work to clean the house you're never going to finish your work. Finding a balance between work and housework is going to be difficult but you have to do it.
Kids and Homework
Moms who work at home with school age children are going to have to help with the homework. Sitting the kids down in the room with you and doing your work while they do their homework will help you both to achieve what you need to. You can answer any questions they have and get your job done.
Have an Office
You are going to need an office when you work at home whether a separate room or a corner designated for working. When you have a work space you are more likely to work when you're in the space than to run over to do something you see needing done.
Remember to take breaks
Taking breaks when you're a work at home mom is important. You wouldn't work non-stop until quitting time in a traditional office instead you'd stop for your break and your lunch. Do the same thing at home at a regularly scheduled time so that you're more productive.
The challenges of being a work at home mom are incredible but with some careful scheduling and the handing out of chores you can be assured you get everything done. You can still make time for the family and help you kids with your home work when you remember to take the time to organize yourself and rest once in a while.
