10 things that will get you in big trouble at work

Most people try to be on their best behavior at work. It only makes sense if you want to keep your job. If you are looking for big trouble at your job, you can find it rather easily. Here are some sure fire ways to have your boss calling you into his/her office for a little chat:

Lateness/Tardiness

This is a major offense in many workplaces. Your boss expects you to be at work and to be there on time. Other members of your team are relying on your presence to make the flow of work go more smoothly. Your absence or tardiness can have things coming to a screeching halt.

Bad Attitude

Although a bad attitude might be understandable in some workplaces, it is a bad idea. This could include things such as refusing to learn something new or talking bad about a co-worker. This list could go on for miles. The point is, a bad attitude can end you up in front of the boss and eventually out the door.

Stealing

This is an automatic way to get pushed right out the door. Stealing is never a good thing and it's even worse in a workplace. Filling up your coffee cup and not putting your money into the honor system cup can get you fired. Never take anything from your workplace that doesn't belong to you unless you want to get fired on the spot.

Not Following Instruction

If your boss tells you to do something in a specific way and you decide your way is better, the choice is obvious. Do it your bosses way! You may be completely right in your assumption that you have a better way. Unfortunately, that isn't the way they want it done. Follow the instructions that you received to the letter to avoid getting in hot water later.

Continuously Making Errors

If you want to find yourself in the hot seat, just make a lot of errors along the way. You don't have to do it on purpose. Sometimes it just falls in your lap. Trying to save time by speeding through your work is a great way to get in big trouble on the job. This type of behavior leads to huge mistakes and costs the company time in the end.

Mass Email Jokes

Never send a mass email to the entire company that involves a joke. It might be the funniest joke you have ever heard, resist the urge. This will get you in trouble before you lift your fingers from the mouse. If you must send it to someone right away, send it only to those that you know won't mind it. You really don't want the president of the company coming to your desk to find out why you are wasting company time on jokes.
