Chanting of Om & Effect on the person chanting Om
What is Om?
Om is considered the monarch of all mantras. All beejamantra and mantras originate from it. It prefixes some mantras. It is representative of the Supreme God Principle (Parabrahman).
Effect of continuous chanting of Om
The energy associated with Om is of the unmanifest God principle (nirgun) The unmanifest energy of God is the same energy used to create the entire manifest (sagun) Universe. As a result a lot of energy is generated when one chants Om.
Chanting of only Om can have adverse effects if the person chanting is of a lower spiritual level as he may not have the capacity to tolerate the spiritual energy generated from the chant.
The following illustrates who can tolerate the chanting of just Om. The spiritual level at which the chanting of Om can be tolerated:
Man 50%
Woman beyond child bearing age 50%
Woman within child bearing age 60%
Printing of Om in various places
A basic law of spiritual science states that The word, touch, form, taste, smell and its related energy coexist'. This means where a symbol of God is present its related energy is also present. By placing the Om symbol on T-shirts and tattoos on the body the following are the adverse effects that may be felt:
Physical distress such as hyperacidity, a rise in the body temperature, etc. or psychological distress like restlessness. Another important aspect is that random placement of the symbol Om amounts to playing with a symbol related to God and hence constitutes a sin.
Chanting god's Name
In today's times the most effective way of progressing spiritually is chanting the Name of God according to the religion of our birth. We are born in that very religion which is most conducive to begin our spiritual practice. This forms the basic foundation for spiritual practice. Repeating the Name of God according to the religion of our birth also enables us to overcome destiny. In fact spiritual practice helps us both in this world and the world after we die.
Chanting with and without faith
In fact as most people are below the 30% spiritual level, their faith in God is just about 0 - 2%. In their case chanting is begun with little or no faith but this very chanting gives them worldly benefits as well as various spiritual experiences that result in development of further faith. However if one chants with faith, added benefit is accrued.
There is a saying that money is the currency of worldly life and faith is the currency of spiritual life. When we chant with faith, we activate very quickly the deity (aspect of God) principle whose Name we chant, the effect lasts for a longer period of time and most importantly, we derive spiritual growth from it towards God-realisation.
