Oh my trampled soul, wearied by the war
I've fought and lost at such great cost
And left me with this scar
Oh my crumpled heart, you've such a will to win
A sore, sore sight yet still you fight
Beat me from within
Though death hangs near, I will not fear
My good soul I shall spend
For when day breaks my heart shall wake
And have love, in the end
