Music is a major part of my life. As a writer, I use music as inspiration everyday for new pieces of work. I also use it in my personal life. When I'm upset, a good slow song always makes me feel better. When I want to dance, a nice upbeat song does the trick. Music also makes a good conversation starter. Meeting someone new can often go easier when you have music in common. No matter what language they speak, music and the beats are universal.
I would like to share some of my favorite songs with you. Below each, I have included an explanation of why I like it so much. Hopefully, you will find some songs you like as well.
1) Corona and Lime by Shwayze
"Baby will you be my Corona and lime. And I will be your main squeeze." What adorable lyrics. This is a slower song with a good beat. The singer has a good flow in his voice that makes me want to sway every time I hear it. This is a good song for lovers.
2) Monster by Meg and Dia
"His little whispers - love me, love me. That's all that I ask for - love me, love me." Again, another song with wonderful lyrics. Unlike many other songs, this one does not have a set meaning. The lyrics are open to interpretation and can be taken as love gone wrong, as a rape, etc. Very good beat. I suggest watching this one with the music video because it is different.
3) Walking on Air by Kerli
Kerli is an Estonian singer with a very unique voice. Walking on Air is one of her best known songs, though she is not that well known in the United States where I live. This song starts out sounding like a music box, but continues with a creepy feel. The music video adds an additional eerie feeling to the song with its dark tones and weird atmosphere.
4) Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold
"Just giving you a small taste of your afterlife here so stay, you'll be back here soon anyway." A great song with a great beat and unique lyrics. It's about finding where you're suppose to be and what you're suppose to be doing. The male vocals work amazing with this song. It would not be the same if it was sung by a woman.
5) Pain by Three Days Grace
"Pain - without love , pain - I can't get enough, pain - I like it rough 'cause I'd rather feel pain than nothing at all." Yes, this is somewhat of an 'emo' song, but when you're hurt or depressed, this is the perfect song. It explains your feelings with a good beat that isn't overwhelming.
6) Anthem by Pitbull ft. Lil John
This song has some Spanish lyrics mixed in and the beat matches to these lyrics with a great rhythm.
