The color pink in all its many shades a color guaranteed to drive fear into the heart of any man. However we women love pink. It is soft and romantic and well feminine. So how do you use it in such a way that you don't have visions of bubblegum dancing in your head or worse drive your husband to sleep in the garage? How do you bring pink into the modern adult world? Lets face it most adults aren't looking for a princess or Barbie room. But pink can be a grown up color. It can even be used without your husband pulling his hair out and swearing he is running away to become a monk. One of the first things to consider in the grown up pink room is the shade of pink. Bubble gum and Barbie pink are for children. Grown ups prefer more refined pinks like mauve, melon and rose. Use prints and stripes to grow up the color pink. Add neutrals to tone down a bright pink. The color pink can be incorporated into so many themes and styles it is a shame it is overlooked.
The Romantic Retreat:
Ah evenings spent with a loved one. Sleeping in late and waking up to a romantic view. Pink is a very romantic color otherwise it wouldn't be on so many Valentine's Day cards. Using pink to create a place to enjoy spending time with one another. Try small patterns of pink flowers or striped wallpaper on the walls. Create bed curtains out of light pink gauze. Soft pink lighting set a romantic mood. Pink rose or lilac scented candles bring a wonderful aroma to the room. Try a deep rose color for bedding and window treatments. Add silver or gold accent pieces to create a more elegant effect.
The Spa Garden:
Bring pink into the bedroom with floral prints. Paint the walls a crisp white and add framed pictures of pink roses. Use pink flowers in a green vase to bring the garden in. Pink and tan striped curtains make a refined touch. Use soft fabrics like plush fur or velvet to create pink throw curtains on a tan bed spread. Grab a white wicker arm chair and cover the cushion in a pink stripe. Paint shelves a soft rose on a moss green wall. Tying pink together with greens and browns and the use of stripes and patterns creates the feel of an expensive spa resort.
The Seaside Villa:
Seashells often have a pale pink color. Take that color to a paint store and have them match it. The shade will only be slightly pinker then pure white.
