One of the top searches made on the internet today is the quest to find the answer to: "How can I make a living online?" Across the world people are worried about their job security, and are turning to their computers to try and discover new ways in which their can safeguard their future.

Unfortunately for most internet surfers they are looking to solve the problem of online working from the wrong angle. Instead of seeking work to match their abilities, they are signing up for programmes to promote affiliate and/or internet marketing. Very few of these promised ventures will succeed, in fact statistic's show that 95% of all new internet businesses fail.

It is highly possible to earn a decent income working online, providing that you keep within your experience and capabilities. Everybody has their natural talents as well as their qualifications, but for some reason they just search for online jobs. For example: Why is it that someone who has never written a word in their life, can suddenly view an advertisement for freelance copywriting and convince themselves they can do that. They want to desperately work from home, earn a good living online but then due to their inexperience feel they were cheated when they fail to produce any income.

By trying to match your skills to an online career, first consider what it is that you can offer as a service. Those that have a flair for selling, discover they do well on Ebay. There are an estimated 1.3 million people around the world making a living from Ebay. Photographers whose companies have downsized or closed are flourishing on the internet. Using their own websites, they can promote their portfolio to an even larger audience than they had before.

These are the secrets to earning a good living from your computer, use what you are trained for and adapt to the internet world. Not all work from home careers require you to sit and interact with the information super highway 24 hours a day. However most businesses today, whether you are a dog trainer, dressmaker or journalist, will benefit from your skills in website promotions and internet marketing. It is a sad fact of life that a company formed in today's world stands little chance of survival without the advantage of any internet coverage.

Hopefully in time the "get rich quick schemes" will disappear and maybe people will look towards what they can work at, instead of signing up for these pipe dreams. The lure of working from home is so great today and many employees dream of firing their bosses and earning their living online. With a realistic attitude it can be achieved.
