Parents may overreact to whom their kids hang around with. No parent wants their kids to get in trouble anywhere, but kids do get in trouble. No matter what age, it can still happen. Even parents were kids and teens one time in their life. Since that nobody is perfect, many would need second or third chances. A kid always in trouble doesn't mean that they can't change. No matter how serious the situation is, kids are sorry for what they did and would really appreciate a second chance.
Parents monitor their kids in many ways. Drug testing for teens is one of the most common ways to see if teens have been involved in any mischief. Some parents believe that this is a rather good idea to see if their kids have been doing anything illegal. This however may not be the best as it is seen. So overall speaking, would drug testing be a good solution to monitor your teens activity.
What parents don't see is that they are losing their children's trust. By drug testing them, you are making them think that they are on drugs while maybe they are actually not. They may not share everything that's going on with parents after losing your children's trust. One way to see if your kids are doing anything that is something you hope that they won't do is to monitor their time. They most likely will not stay at home so tell them a time to get home by. If they come home on time, then you should have nothing to worry about. While on drugs or drinking with friends, they will tend to forget time and don't care about the time you have set them.
When parents start to think something might be going on, following them is a good idea. It might also not be a good idea if your kids notice that you are following them. Try to have some family activities such as playing basketball or something that will take away the anxiety to go out with friends. Not that they shouldn't be, but parents can get suspicious.
Drug testing is not the very best idea because kids can actually have ways to overcome it. There are some even more harmful drugs that they would take for parents to think that they are clean. Normal weed or other type can be shown through test, but glue pot cannot be shown through testing. It is even worse than the one they are using right now. Instead of using drugs, they may start alcohol due to the fact that it is also undetectable over three hours of time.
Not only could they not take drugs, but also have an underage cigarette intake. This is also illegal so therefore it would help if parents put a stop to it. In desperate times your kids will want to steal, kill or anything else to get their hands on what ever it is that they want. Some places offer detectors that go off to the smell of cigarettes and alcohol even. Those types of people carry a strong odor which is highly noticeable.
There are many alternatives which parents can use to stop kids from doing bad things other than purchasing a drug test kit. Drug testing kits are not the smartest ideas. Parents should most likely catch their kids doing it or get proof. The best thing is to get kids to confess themselves. This proves that the want help from someone they trust. Since anyone can make a wrong decision or choice, adults should help them set it right other than blaming them for some mistake they made.
