If you start putting boundaries on one paycheck, you open the door to all the next levels'. The criticism will overshadow the original problem and, in this case, increase national feeling of greed and doom out of control'. As infuriating as these checks are, we cannot afford to be sidetracked. Since no one fired all the executives in the first place, the paychecks are not important. The plan needs to be given a chance and all our support.
The funds, I believe, should state their purpose with clearly defined checks and balances' to keep it in line. Stated protections from legal loopholes will further contain the bail out funds from redirection. Do we really need to pay people incentives to stay employed? If they would sue for breaking their contract, maybe they are not the type of staff needed for this new direction.
The news media should do more homework after they get their eye catching' headline. To bring in listeners and keep advertisers happy with "Bail out again used as bonuses" if fine. Then get the facts. Bring up alternative solutions that could have been chosen. Don't leave unanswered questions. Bring clarity and facts for people to tackle. Without that it becomes just another unfathomable abuse.
But let's face it. If we are continually giving the money to the people who created the Nation-toppling financial crisis in the first place, then we just have to have blind faith' in what is left of our government. Clearly, the core staff support and advisers for the President have not had enough time to develop as a group. Banking was shouting "Bail out now" before Obama was even sworn in. Who can even fathom these threats and losses, let alone establish any clear directions and back-up plans. So we bail out AIG, the supreme domino pattern' identified as the financial umbrella supporting the United States as we know it. It all begs the question, will the recipients ever use the funds in the way they are intended so we can give the President's efforts our best chance to work. Or will they continue with the toppling ethics of the rich get rich and the poor get poorer'. Ain't we got fun!.
