The best TV cartoons for kids

The ones that don't have sex, violence, and cursing. Cartoon shows such as The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park are definitely not for children. But here's a few that are for both kids and adults alike; not necessarily in any particular order.

1. Clifford the Big Red Dog. You don't have to be a kid to watch this show. I watch it myself in the morning while I'm getting readYto go to work. This show teaches kids how to respect others, their feelings, and their property; how to get along with each other, how to say that your sorry for hurting somebody else's feelings, and that we all make mistakes. And besides, Clifford, T-Bone, Cleo, and Emily Elizabeth are oh so cute. What amazes me is that the dogs (Clifford, T-Bone, Cleo, and Max) will all talk to each other, but around human beings, they don't talk: they barKk. Clifford is for all ages. Oh by the way, the late John Ritter was the voice of Clifford.

2. Super Why. Although this show teaches kids how to read, write, and spell, it's just so cute the way they do it. Each one of the four characters, Wyatt, Pig, Red, and Princess Pea will have some type of a problem; they transform themselves into the Super Readers (Alpha Pig, Super Why, Wonder Red, and Princess Presto), fly into classic childrens' stories, and solve their problems. Alpha Pig builds the alphabet by reciting each letter or using his letter lasso. At the end he'll exclaim "Lickety Letters" and "Let's have a big thumbs up." Wonder Red teaches kids how to rhyme (ex: "I just love "un" words). Princess Presto will pick up her magic spelling wand to teach kids how to spell ("Wands up" is her famous trademark). Super Why, "with the power to read", will use his Whywriter to change a word in a sentence by zapping it. He also instructs viewers to look out for 'Super Letters", and when they appear, he'll soon ask, "Do you see Super Letters?", and ask the audience to repeat what they just saw. Then he stores them in his "Super Duper Computer" to get his "Super Story Answer". I also watch this show in the morning before I go to work. I'm 51 and I like it. It's better than these depressing news stories and trashy Jerry Springer and Maury.

3. Martha Speaks. Very unique and unusual. A female dog who all of a sudden speaks like a human after eating some alphabet soup. But at the same time, it teaches kids word meanings as well.

4. Sid the Science Kid. Another very unique and unsusual show. Sid, a little boy who investigates and wants to know certain things such as what causes germs, the five senses, and so forth. In fact, he even say "You can be a scientist." At school, he becomes friends with Gerald, Gabriela, and May, and when it's class time, Teacher Susie will come on out sing. "It's rug time, come on in. If your kids want to learn about what makes things grow, what causes germs, and so forth; this is it.

5. The Zula Patrol. A group of aliens who patrol the universe also teaches kids about planets, the solar system, animals, etc. I'll admit that I usually catch this show on Saturday mornings before I leave for my Weight Watchers meeting. Anybody can watch it besides kids. It's not as as violent as some of the other crime-fighting and space-alien cartoons.

6. The old Hanna-Barbera cartoons such as The Flintstones, Top Cat, Yogi Bear, Snagglepuss, and Huckleberry Hound.

7. Curious George. Such a cute little monkey. Again, a cartoon with no sex, violence or cursing.

8. Maya and Miguel. Another show that's fun for all ages. These two cute little Spanish kids not only teach kids how to get along with each other, but some Spanish words as well.
