How to Get Grant Money - 5 Helpful Tips
Every year billions and billions of dollars in grant money is given away to people probably just like you. People often question the validity of grants because it is too hard for many to grasp the concept of getting free money. Well, I am here to let you know that grants are real and there are people really receiving them. Let me say that again, Grants are real and there are people, just like you, really receiving them. And most importantly, a grant is money you don't have to pay back. Sounds good doesn't it. This article will go over 5 helpful tips that can help anyone thinking about applying for grant money.
Let me start off by saying that even though grant money is essentially free, it will take a valiant effort on your part to get approved for one. I say this because some people get intimidated by the whole process of trying to get a grant. Yes it does take a little research and work, but if approved, you will find that it was all worth it.
Here are 5 tips that will help you out when trying to get a money grant.
Invest In A Grant Program - A grant program is a program where you purchase some sort of grant package that includes a directory of current grants that are available, how to write proposals information, how to apply for a grant information and sometimes even a phone consultation. I recommend investing in one of these programs because, even though you can still get a grant with out one, one of these programs can really shorten the learning curve and get you quicker, more effective results. You can find a good grant program for under $50.
Apply For The Right Grant - Even if you have a great grant proposal, applying for the wrong type of grant will get you rejected. You need to make sure that you qualify for the grant that you are applying for.
Get Personal - When writing your proposal, be real. Explain why you are applying for the grant and how it would effect your life if you were to receive it. Tell a story. Remember, a real person is reading your proposal, so you got to be convincing.
Justify Every Dollar - Many people get rejected because the amount of money that they are asking for is more then what it would be needed for. In other words, if you are asking for a $5,000 grant, you will need to show how every dollar is going to be spent. If you can't justify the amount your requesting, do not ask for that amount.
Don't Give Up - The beauty about applying for grants is that if you get rejected, you can try again. Even if you do get approved for a money grant, you can still apply for a different type of grant if you'd like. If you do get rejected, try to find out why you were rejected, so you can make the necessary adjustment on your next attempt.
