Movie reviews: The Devil Wears Prada

"The Devil Wears Prada" (Hell on Heels) has an excellent cast, is full of humor and is a movie that I have watched several times and will watch again. I'm a sucker for chick-flicks and this one takes the cake!

Anne Hathaway plays the part of Andy Sachs. She's young, full of dreams, educated and doomed once she is hired as assistant to Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), magazine editor for one of the top fashion magazines in New York. If Miranda says, "Jump", Andy says, "How high?".

Andy Sachs so wants to be a success in her new job but starts from day one, being treated indifferently by Miranda Priestly, Emily (Emily Blunt) who is Miranda's first in command, Nigel (Stanley Tucci) who is Miranda's partner in crime. After all this oppression, a transformation takes place and Andy virtually turns into a "robot" for Miranda Priestly.

Even though she feels like a success, Andy loses sight of the important things in life. This is the story of how she makes it to the top and then has to find her way back to all that's good and honest in her life.

I have to say that Emily Blunt shines in this movie! She's arrogant, snippy, downright bossy and plays the part of Emily in this movie to perfection. Meryl Streep has always been a favorite actor of mine and plays her part of Miranda with a believable display of boss from Hell!

Supporting cast includes Adrian Grenier who plays the part of Nate, Andy Sach's boyfriend. Simon Baker who is Christian Blunt, an established writer who befriends Andy. Gisele Bndchen even makes a small appearance in this movie.

Special effects were not much to mention but the whole idea of the fashion industry is incorporated in this movie. Fashion shows in Paris, fancy cocktail parties, fashion designers and the whole idea was beautifully displayed in this movie.

Excellent soundtrack! This includes: Moby and Jamiroquai (personal favorites), Alanis Morissette, Madonna, Bono and K.T. Tunstall. All songs are very fitting in this movie.

"The Devil Wears Prada" is a 2006 movie. Nominated for 2 Oscars, 8 wins & 25 nominations. This comedy/drama is rated PG-13 "For some sensuality". I think it has a rather adult theme to it too. It might be hard for a 13 year old to understand.

It's an entertaining movie, full of laughs, good storyline, excellent performances by the entire cast. Directed by David Frankel and based on the best selling novel by Lauren Weisberger.

"Fun, Flirty, Spirited, Sexy" as stated by the Associated Press. "Sinfully Funny!" from Rolling Stone Magazine.

I recommend this movie to anybody who wants to be entertained and have a good laugh. It's not so mushy that even a few men might like it. It would be a great date movie!
