Whether you are new to internet or have been online a while - here are some basic, common rules to read, learn, and understand. While Internet is a wonderful place to explore and learn there are dangers out there.It is often said "You can't judge a book by it's cover"....so follows for people on internet, you can't judge people by their online status. Coming back to rules, here are some of rules every INTERNET user should keep in mind while surfing the net.

1. Never ever give out your personal information. Like fullname, telephone no., home address, etc..

2. Never enter your Credit card nos, Bank account nos, etc. in any sites demanding them for product purchase or any other purpose.

3. Never meet people with whom you connect through social networking sites or through chat rooms.

4. Do not reply to emails from unknown person claiming you have won a prize in online lottery system.

5. Do not complete online forms with personal information.

6. Do not order, purchase anything from sites which are not geniune. Always buy things from secure and geniune sites.

7. While using Internet chat programs and communication learn how to supress IP - or ask a computer expert for help.This prevents your location being sent online.

8. Never click on suspicious links, as it can cause harm to your computer and your personal information too.

9. Do not download free softwares, movies, etc. as it can contain an attachment of virus or worms which can infect your computer.

10. Always run an anti virus while connecting to Internet.

11. Keep updating your passwords, and keep different passwords for different accounts you hold.

12. Do not show your web cam to people whom you meet online.

13. Use online protection tools, which would block spywares from entering your computer.

14. Follow the guidelines provided by your ISP providers.

15. If any person is threatening you contact your ISP provider and bring to his notice about the person. As they won't tolerate such activities and take serious actions against the person.

16. Check your kids activities on Internet through History option provided in every browser. Keep an eye on what he/she surfs, on which sites he/she has opened an account, etc. as kids are more vulnerable to criminal activities.

These are the basic rules that every person should follow to keep him/her safe from cyber world. These tips should be kept in mind while surfing to avoid problems later on.
