I believe that creating collectible keepsakes in Polymer Clay
is a wonderful way to express the "artistic side" in anyone
no matter the age...from a supervised toddler to retirees
looking for a new hobby.

There are quite a few brands of clay with varying levels of
difficulity to work with. Sculpey III & Fimo Soft are the two that I recommend for kid's & beginners because these clays

are the easiest to work with straight out of the package.

A perfect way to "get your feet wet" in polymer clay is to
create your own little Angel! Below are step-by-step instructions to make her in just a little over an hour or two.
Perfect for giving as a treasured gift..or keep yourself
& start your own collection of Angels!

*Making A Polymer Clay Angel*

Supplies you'll need...

2 oz. Pkgs of Polymer Clay
in White...Beige...& color(s) of your choice

butter knife
glass baking dish
clean 3x5 index cards
flat metal spatula
tweezers
round toothpicks
drinking straw ( cut in half)
rolling pin or a 6" length of plastic pipe
smooth chunky paintbrush handle
2" length of gold craft wire
small no hole black beads
blush makeup or color chalk
sponge makeup applicator
tacky craft or super glue
baby powder
baby wipes
black permanent maker

Ready? Well then Lets get started...

First off....ALWAYS! wash your hands...prior to..after using
& when going from one color of clay to another.
Cover your work surface with a piece of clean paper.
Each pkg. of clay is predivided into 4 equal sections.
Always begin with light colored clays first.

WINGS...

From white clay..Use butterknife or spatula to cut first
section into 4 pieces. Take 2 of those and begin conditioning your clay by squishing & flattening with your
fingers and or rolling it out repeatedly with your rolling
pin until it's soft & pliable.
Roll each piece into a ball...then with your fingers
make into a tear drop shape. Lay them on a index card
& use your toothpick to creat lines for "feathers". Set aside.

HEAD & HANDS...

Remove 1 section from pkg. of beige clay. Cut in half.
Condition & roll into a ball in the palms of your hands.
Press the toothpick into the lower part of head
for the eyes. Use tweezers to pick up black beads & place them into eye holes. ( or skip this step
& leave as is...or paint on eyes after your angel has been baked)
If desired...roll a tiny "pinch" of clay into a ball &
add it just below the eyes for her nose.
Use your toothpick to form a wide open mouth..
or cut a notch out of the drinking straw & press it
into the head for a smiling angel.
With sponge makeup applicator apply
